One day in Stockholm was not enough, but as I was trying to work with a limited number of days, it's all we had. Here is our one day QUICK Stockholm tour - but I definitely would recommend staying longer! We took the train from Oslo to Stockholm so arrived about 5pm and checked into the most perfect Hotel/Apartment located in the heart of Gamla Stan - where else should you stay if you are in Stockholm. It was one of the Lady Hamilton Apartments - this location was able to give us the opportunity to walk to everything on the itinerary.
ITINERARY:
10AM - 1:30AM - The Royal Palace 3 mins from hotel -cost$ 18pp open 10am-4pm The entrance to all attractions at the Royal Palace, including the Treasury and the Museum Tre Kronor, is located on the western side of the Palace, on the Outer Court Yard. See the Royal apartments and the Treasury where the crown jewels are. There is SO much to see here - you really need at least 3 hours.
1:30am -2:30 lunch
2:30 - 3:30PM -Museum of Medieval Stockholm (4 mins from hotel) open 12-5pm Free
3:30-5pm - walk around Gamla Stan - go in shops and see Storkrykan Church has a statue of George and the dragon
5-6:30PM - Den gyldene freden (English: The Golden Peace) the oldest restaurant - This restaurant is 5 mins walk from our hotel
7-8pm After dinner if time: Nobel Museum 2 mins from hotel open 11am-8pm - free admission from 5-8pm!
WHAT I DIDN'T GET TO DO: Because we couldn't figure out the ferry schedule and there was no one on duty to help us we weren't able to go on the island of Djurgarden - Vasa Museum - can do a quick tour in as little as 1 hour cost $15pp (opens 10am - 5pm) and ABBA Museum (Come on - you are in Sweden!!) We substituted this time with a walk around Gamla Stan, which gave us the opportunity to go in shops.
The View from our Apartment window!

The iconic square just steps from our hotel apartment - and those cafes have delicious food and hot chocolate!
