Get the Copenhagen Pass!
The unlimited use of the bus system was worth getting the pass alone. Unlike Oslo and Stockholm, Copenhagen attractions are far apart and it is certainly nice for your feet to take the bus - even if it for only a couple stops.
Itinerary:
Day One -
Tour Rosenberg Castle and gardens address: Oster Voldgade 44 (open 10am-2pm )cost $13.50pp - Allow 2-3 hrs here because there can be lines to enter and there is a lot to see!
See the Little Mermaid!
Tivoli gardens open until 10pm price 99kr pp
Day Two -
Allow 2 hours - Tour Christiansborg Palace and ruins underneath palace
Tour Amalienborg Castle
Stop at Nyhavn!
Tivoli gardens open until 10pm price 99kr pp (you can't go just once - plus they have great ice cream and desserts!)
Rosenberg Castle:

Tivoli Gardens is magical at night when all the lights are on - everyone feels like a kid again!

Christiansborg Palace: Don't forget to go up in the tower for these spectacular views and tour the ruins underneath.

Amalienborg Castle:

Nyhavn:

and of course you have to visit the Little Mermaid:

WHERE TO EAT: We ate at Tivoli Gardens for one meal each day and definitely for dessert! If you go to the Visitor's Center the cafe inside has delicious breakfast pastries and coffees and we planned our whole trip on the chance that we would get a call from the wait list we were on to eat at NOMA. We got the call when we were in Oslo and got to eat at one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the world. I did enjoy some of my plates there (the lamb belly with sorrel was my fave) but I will say I preferred Oslo's Fru-K to NOMA.
